Only part i cared about. The rest will find its way to perfection! The Mac version is my top priority at the moment, but there are only so many hours in a day...

DJWiggles wrote:Doing the update from the launcher causes the updater.exe to just hang and not respond. trying to run the updater.exe with admin rights just closes it straight away The updater needs very specific arguments to do its job.
Try running the launcher as administrattor - if that fails, uninstall and reinstall from https://binaries.eveonline.com/EveLauncher-973659.exe

Soltys wrote:Few remarks:
(about 973625): The older version of beta launcher used underscore between path_to_shared_cache designation and server_ip. The new version - right after I started it - didn't (e.g. c_games_eve_basetq_1.2.3.4 vs. c_games_eve_base_tq_1.2.3.4) - which caused minor sideffect of profiles not being seen in newer version of beta launcher. NOTE: cannot reproduce it with 973659. But maybe there're some underscore related issues still present.
The directory with all settings is bound to path_to_shared_cache and server_ip. Any changes here (essentially cache migration) forces user to copy all settings manually. So before the final release it would be good to handle it somehow.
Also, one of the other things people do is syncing per-character settings - which essentially comes down to cherry-picking core_char_*.dat and core_char_*.dat files and copy/overwrite as necessary - or alternatively use hardlinks to share actual per-character settings under the same account. This stuff is particularly useful for things such as market quickbar or extensively changed keybinds. While there is nothing wrong with this method, perhaps new launcher could assist people with that somehow (as - syncing settings between characters outside the game).
As you moved launcher related files into single directory, perhaps it would be better to keep them in single directory, say:
CCP\EVE\.Launcher\{cache,logs,QtWebEngine}
instead of
CCP\EVE\{cache,Launcher,QtWebEngine} mixed with EVE related settings Version 973659 fixed the issue with the missing underscore.
Once the launcher has stabilized, I'll look into improving settings manangement. For now, I ask for your patience - these things are on my radar.
Qt has its own conventions on where files for web engine are stored so this is where they end up. I figured this was an improvement, without trying to circumvent their standards..

I'm using WIndows 10, and it was set to run as administrator previously. The white box thing was intermittent in the past, and 100% consistent only today.
It's doing it again. Please file a bug report, mention my name in the description so it gets sent my way. Give as detailed a description of your symptoms as you can and include system specs, including any virus protection and firewall setup.
Attach the logs from %LOCALAPPDATA%/CCP/EVE/Launcher.
I-¦m hoping to add diagnostics to the launcher to help figure these sort of things out, but first I need to know what the edge cases are that are preventing the launcher from doing its thing correctly, so this info would help a lot.
Thanks for trying the launcher and providing this info.

Fixed that for you CCP Phantom, since I was ignored it seems back on 10/8/2015 https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=6086756#post6086756
Once again, I turn my Crossfire setup off, and the launcher works without issue... Maybe you will catch it this time? We'll investigate this Crossfire issue, but I'm rather afraid this might be a driver issue. The launcher isn't even a graphics heavy application so I find this rather surprising. I'll ping AMD about this - if they can reproduce it on their end, they should be able to fix it or tell me what we're doing wrong.
We do monitor these forum threads but we don't always respond to every issue. It's not because we're ignoring you, we're just busy working on stuff!

Don Saraki wrote:The installer seems to do nothing no matter what I try.
I'm using windows 10 - Home
rebooted machine tried running as admin with and without compatability windows 7 and 8
When ran as admin, i get the UAC popup and click yes but still doesn't seem to do anything.
I've not seeing anything eve related in my task manager.
I tried disabling windows Defender.
The filename is "EveLauncher-973659.exe"
Looking forward to having the ability to launch multiple clients with a CCP launcher.
This is weird - we've tested the launcher on a freshly installed Windows 10 Home and it runs fine, and certainly installs without problems. I installed it without problems on my home machine with Windows 10.
Can you think of any unusual configuration you might have? Any virus protection beyond Defender?
Could the file be corrupt? Can try downloading it again?
Do you have access to a different computer? Try downloading from there and try to install on that machine - at least see if the installer starts up. If that works, put that copy on a USB stick and take to your machine.

Get that popup every time I try to start a client. As far as I can tell, no repair tool exists for clients installed via the beta launcher. Launcher is set to "Release" version type. I just fixed an issue where corrupt files made it up to the CDN. Try restarting the launcher, see if it works now.

I'm not sure what on my system is deciding it needs to use the OpenSSL libraires from xampp to run your launcher but it seems to be the culprit. If I figure out anything else that might be helpful I'll add that later. The launcher does use OpenSSL so there is some logic to this. Is xampp in your path? Not sure why that would get preference over the ones next to the executable, but this is at least a lead for me to investigate.

JFKen Imperia wrote:Hi guys, Hi CCP 7o I have some issues since i try the new b+¬ta launcher My SHARED directory is always deleted when i launch it. Originally, it was about +20Gb. Now it is sized less than 2GB , i, have to copy a backup of the original folder. The path in the launcher settings is fine, and when i launch the game after copying the shared backup, it works fine. Many times in game, even with closing the launcher application, a command windows pop " *my shared folder path* /updater.exe". I always close it, buty i think it's this .exe who deleting my shared directory. edit : my pc runs Seven 64 bits, on an AMD X6 cpu. Make sure the launcher is not installed in the shared cache directory. When the launcher updates, it deletes any extra files in its folder. I will add a safety check to guard against this in the near future.

the \ in ../ResFiles\92/.. should be a /
Copying the file manually is a solution. Maybe someone can update the update script? Technically they should all be backslashes as these are Windows paths. Wine should handle this correctly, are you sure this is really the issue?
The updater is started by the launcher, but can't update the launcher until it exits. If the launcher for some reason doesn't exit, or takes a long time to do so it might interfere with the update. The updater should retry a few times, with a delay of 3 seconds or so to allow for this.
Anyway, I'll look at the paths being consistent, but I don't really have the time to verify this myself on Linux.

GinBar wrote:Jaantrag wrote:GinBar wrote:CCP why do you hate us industry guys.
Have any of you guys try running industry with 4 or 5 accounts, and do with this relaunching game instead of reloging
So its way faster just run game from .exe and do reloging all those alts when running industry jobs having using the .exe to launch 6 accounts and the new launcher i can freely say the launcher is faster. yes it is a BETA so issues here and there is accepted. \ then try re log alts on already launched account and see what happens ( u gotta do this if u re running industry alts) We had several requests having the launcher ensure that hitting play on accounts already running would not start a new client, causing the running client to log out on that account. You can stop the client from the launcher (just make sure you've checked the 'Do not ask me again' box in the close window warning message).
I'll see if it makes sense to have an option to control whether hitting Play on an already running account starts a new client or not. I'm a bit worried that may cause more confusion for most players, but we'll consider this use case.
